5 Tips To Upgrade Your Skin Care Routine In Time For Spring

Dove antiperspirant benefits

Now is the perfect time to consider upgrades to your skin care routine.  It’s almost time to bring out the spring dresses and we all want soft, healthy glowing skin.  Every day, I think about ways to upgrade my skin care routine.  It’s something I never consider finished and there’s always room for improvement.

I’ve shared tips that I’ve learned over the years to care for your face and talked at length about the importance of using effective products on your skin.  I don’t want to just focus on the face though because it’s equally important to take care of all your skin!  You don’t need pricey products to make improvements but you do need to actively think about what improvements you can make.  Fortunately, I’ve done some thinking for you and I will share my top 5 tips to upgrade your skin care routine so you will look and feel gorgeous when you slip into your first spring dress!

1.

Introduce Vitamin C in your morning skin care regimen

You know by now that I am obsessed with my skin.  I will try every new product and I am relentless when it comes to researching skin care and anti-aging.  Of all the products I have tried over the last 15 years, an effective vitamin C serum has had the most profound effect on my skin.  I’ve used many C serums but it wasn’t until I spent serious time researching what products were truly effective and how to know if I was getting a serum that would make a difference.  Once the right serum was in my hands, I was astonished by the transformation of my skin.  In an earlier article on the blog, I discussed the many benefits of using vitamin C and what products you should consider that will yield the best results.

2.

Dry Brush Your Skin

tip to upgrade your skin care routine

Dry brushing your skin has many benefits aside of just feeling good.  It’s usually done all over the body, with the exception of your face.  It only takes a few minutes and is best to do before showering.   Use a firm, natural brush and you will immediately notice softer skin as the brush helps to loosen and remove dead skin cells.  The exfoliation process also clears out dirt and oil from the pores.  The dry brush process also enhances blood circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system which helps to transport toxins out of your body.  Dry brushing is quick and easy to do, feels invigorating, and has benefits you will notice right away.  While there isn’t any scientific evidence that it improves cellulite, many people claim it does.

3.

Upgrade your antiperspirant to Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant

Dove Advanced Care upgrade your skin care routine

You are going to be sleeveless in the spring and summer, right?  Not all antiperspirant is created equal!  Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant offers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection.  If that’s not enough motivation for you, Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant also has added skincare benefits.  Dove’s NutriumMoisture formula made the skin under my arms noticeably softer within two days of using it.  The NutriumMoisture formula contains humectants and products to form a barrier and lock in skin moisture.  Sunflower seed oil and stearic acid help facilitate the skin’s natural renewal process.  Underarms will feel smoother, look prettier, and with the variety of beautiful fragrances, there is something to suit everyone’s taste.

4.

Don’t skip the sunscreen

tips to upgrade skin care

I know I’ve harped on the sunscreen before but that’s only because I care!  Many men and women don’t use it during the winter months or apply it when they plan on being outdoors for an extended period of time.  Sunscreens aren’t what they used to be.  Many products on the market have a lovely tint which solves the concern that skin is left looking white or gray.  The products also don’t feel greasy.  Many sunscreens actually feel great on the skin and wear beautifully under makeup!  If you are concerned about the chemicals in certain sunscreens, use a mineral one that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.  If you still can’t bring yourself to add this into your routine, try makeup that contains sunscreen.  Believe it or not, one of the best foundations I’ve used is SPF 50!  I know, it’s crazy, right?  I posted a mini review on my Instagram of my favorite foundation with the added bonus of sunscreen.  This is guaranteed to result in more youthful, healthy skin over the course of your life!

5.

Drink matcha tea

Coffee is great but matcha tea is incredible!  According to current research done by Tufts University, matcha contains more antioxidant properties than any known “superfood”.  Antioxidants help prevent aging and chronic diseases.  The more you can consume, the better you are equipped to fight off infections, diseases, and the negative effects of our environment.  Matcha is also used in helping with weight loss because studies suggest it boosts metabolism and burns fat.  We all want that!  A study documented in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported that consuming matcha green tea can increase the rate at which the body burns calories by nearly four times the normal rate.  That can certainly have you feeling extra confident in time for summer!   If you decide to start a new diet, check with your doctor to ensure you are making the best choices for your body and personal situation.

  1. Thank you for sharing your tips! I’m also a huge fan of Vitamin C serums in my morning routine and am currently alternating between the Khiels and Algenist ones. Dry brushing is indeed one of the best wellness treatments you can do for skin and body, I’ve also talked about it on my blog. While I don’t do it as often as I would like, I have made it my goal this Spring to try and dry brush at least 3 -5 times a week. Great post, Janine!

    1. I really like the Algenist C serum. I bought that for my mother for Christmas this year. Theirs has received very good ratings. Glad you like the post! I really like the dry brushing. I started doing it last year and do it almost every day. I always hope for cellulite improvement but I just don’t think mine is going anywhere! LOL

Thank you for stopping in!! =) xox

  2. Such wonderful tips Janine! I have never tried Matcha tea (only Matcha tea cake lol) but should definitely fix that! And I need to try those Dove deodorants – those we get here in Dubai are normally made somewhere in the Middle East and for the most part are not the same quality as what you guys get in the States (that’s just my observation). Loved this post!
